Industrial Design-Build & Fabrication

We build things for our customers.   We design, collaborate, engineer, draw, process the metal, machine, fit, weld, sandblast, paint, assemble and install.  Or whatever parts of that you need.

Our customers range from the world’s largest EPC firms, mining and metals firms, industrial firms to the business around the corner with a simple fabrication or welding requirement.   From the design-build of integrated processing and bulk material handling equipment  to a simple ladder, stairway or platform, we make it all.

Our products are tough, durable truck bodies rolling down the highway to hoppers in a food plant to conveyors moving ore at a mine.

Give us a call if you need something fabricated.  We’re easy to work with and bring an integration of services and resources to any project.

Location and Markets

We’re located in Welland, Ontario, part of the Niagara region.  It is a great place to manufacture with highly skilled labour and quick access to markets.  We are less than 45 minutes to the GTA and the USA border.

Ward’s design build bulk material handling equipment can be found the world over.  Many EPC firms and end users have engaged us to design and build conveyors, flexwall conveyors, vibratory conveyors, gates, etc. that are installed in every corner of the globe.

Locally, we are a leading manufacturer of self dumping hoppers, bins and truck bodies through our sister company JT Fabrication

The Shop

Meeting delivery dates and maintaining quality for custom and one-off projects is enhanced by having in-house capabilities.  We do our own metal processing (burn, bend), machining, fitting, welding, sandblasting, painting, millwright work,  assembly and if local, installations

Our facility is 44,000 square foot, fully craned plant with outside storage.

In the areas where we outsource – some machining, heat treating, powder coating, galvanizing and so on, we maintain good relationships with local vendors.

Accreditation

Ward is a Canadian Welding Bureau Certified Welding Company.  We have obtained the highest standard of fabrication quality, have welding engineers available and all of our welders must pass a regular, CWB supervised, welding test.  As well we have several team members who are CWB Welding Supervisors.

SSAB, a global leader in high strength and wear resistant steel has selected Ward as their Hardox Wear Parts partner for the Hamilton and Niagara regions.

This relationship and appointment is indicative of Ward’s quality and capabilities and gives us first hand access to SSAB’s excellent technical support

Engineers

As a design-build firm, we have a staff of specialist Engineers ready to solve problems and create unique designs and solutions.

In fact our Engineers do triple – they are both our  salespeople and our project managers.   With Engineering integrated with production, our solutions are practical and cost effective.

We have found this is the best way to quickly develop the best solution while ensuring it is made on time and to specifications.  Our integrated approach addresses the challenges of one-off custom equipment manufacturing

Customer Care

How long do we support our products for?  Forever.

We think discontinuing something and telling the customer it is “obsolete” is wrong.   If it still has viable functionality, it is not obsolete and we’ll figure out a way to make it work.

We have an active parts business and within Southern Ontario frequently do field and service work.

Responsible Trade Partner

Responsible companies do the right thing.   We have comprehensive safety and environmental policies, follow Ministry of Labour and the Ministry of the Environment guidelines and are proactive about identifying and addressing safety risks.

Safety is crucial in manufacturing.  We do everything we can to ensure our team is properly trained and working in a safe environment.  It is the right thing to do and the only thing that is acceptable to our prudent customers who expect high standards from their trade partners.

Community & Youth

We are focused on youth.  It is where attention is needed as so many have been failed by the system.

We’re trying to do our part and want to promote technical skills as successful careers.  We sponsor a robotics team and consistently have engineering co-op students working at Ward.  We also sponsor youth athletics.

It’s the right thing to do, but its not entirely altruistic.  Youth brings a vitality, energy and freshness of ideas to our business.  We are better for it.

Partnering

A blank canvas of opportunity.

The pace of business is driven by the pace of change.  It doesn’t matter what industry you are in, to keep from going backwards we must embrace new opportunities, ideas, products and partnerships.

What’s a partnership?  Some form of collaboration.  It could include acquisition, joint ventures or production outsourcing.  We have several very successful projects/products underway and have an open mind to working with skilled and credible people and firms.  If you have an idea, let’s talk about it
