A Unique Tripper Conveyor
As part of a large integrated industrial automation project, we needed a mechanism to fill four aggregate silos.
A common approach is a tripper conveyor. A tripper conveyor is a conveyor that has a car which moves along a set of tracks. The position of the car determines where along the conveyor the material discharged.
Our bucket elevator would feed the tripper conveyor which would then feed our silos. However, because a tripper conveyor relies on a ramp to elevate the material to the chute, they end up being quite long. As this was inside a building, space was at a premium.
The solution was was to borrow from our experience with flexwall conveyors. A flexwall has an accordion style wall and large cleats allowing it to work at steeper angles (we can make them run near vertically when required (https://ward.ca/products-and-services/flexwall-conveyors/).
This let us shorten the overall conveyor length saving a substantial amount of money as the design’s small foot print fits inside a smaller building envelope.
We would love to talk to you about tripper conveyors or other design bulk material handling projects you may be considering.
